I know some here were more than likely watching this one. I know Sgt D was, as he was kind enough to point it out to me, knowing that I had a liner for it. And looks like my liner is finally going to get to marry up with the shell. These are the sellers pics, but will add mine when it arrives! I know it is a bit on the obscure side, but always had a "thing" for these for some reason. Am excited to get it!

The X51 experimental lid, made from an aluminum alloy. Was designed to replace the M1, in all its variants, as well as the tanker helmets. According to Chris Arnolds book, there were two versions of the helmet produced for testing.

Thanks guys  I know it may not interest many, but I am a fan of the oddball, and lesser known items like this.

Wow! Great score to be able to re-unite the two parts like that Hoovie! I'd be more than happy to have one of those bad-boys on my shelf! Must be as rare as hens' teeth?! Also..that's one helluva swivel bail it has! :w00t:

I look forward to your future X-51 thread.

Ian

Way cool, but it does look a bit like the turtle in your avatar.

Ya know, now that you mention it... :laughing1:

If I had photoshop, it would be the new turtle!
