I attached pictures of a WWII USAAF radio operator that was KIA. The purple heart was sent to his wife, Lois. It appears the family didn't take care of the purple heart case. The name of the WWII USAAF radio operator is Francis R. Morris and his serial number is 36397339. He served with the 99th Bombardment Group, 346th Squadron. His B-17 was shot down over Foggia, Italy on July 22, 1943. He was stationed at Navarin, Algeria. I acquired a copy of the Missing Air Crew Report (MACR).

I need help authenticating the WWII Purple Heart Engraving. Is the engraving WWII? Is the Purple Heart a WWII period medal?

  • 9 years later...

I pulled his, T/Sgt Morris, Memorial Accolade from an estate sale in Fort Wayne, IN this November.  I would like to reunite them, either under my roof or the owner of the medal.  Please, get in touch with me.  [email protected]
