bigbob1963 Posted April 11, 2011 Share #1 Posted April 11, 2011 Picked this hat up off Ebay. It's not what I normally go for but I liked the look of it. This description is all I have to go on? For sale - Vietnam era Air Cav hat. It comes complete with both a gold dress band and a yellow cav band (not shown). Hat is in good condition and has no sign of mothing. Originally purchased from the USA. May be someone can tell me a little more I've taken a few pictures for you to look at. http://i809.photobucket.com/albums/zz15/bi...3/Photo0253.jpg http://i809.photobucket.com/albums/zz15/bi...3/Photo0254.jpg http://i809.photobucket.com/albums/zz15/bi...3/Photo0264.jpg http://i809.photobucket.com/albums/zz15/bi...3/Photo0266.jpg http://i809.photobucket.com/albums/zz15/bi...3/Photo0270.jpg http://i809.photobucket.com/albums/zz15/bi...3/Photo0257.jpg http://i809.photobucket.com/albums/zz15/bi...3/Photo0258.jpg http://i809.photobucket.com/albums/zz15/bi...3/Photo0271.jpg

QED4 Posted April 11, 2011 Share #3 Posted April 11, 2011 I would be a little leery of this hat. While they were worn in Viet Nam they are also still worn today so dating it will be very difficult. I have never seen one with the gigantic crossed sabers normally they have a standard collar insignia. But the big thing is the hat cord, these cords are like the piping on the overseas hats, yellow for EM, silver and black for WOs, gold and black for officers, and solid gold for general officers. If this hat is on the up and up it belonged to a general. The thing is many police agencies wear wear Stetsons and campaign hats and they use solid gold cords making them actually easier to come by than the gold and black cords.
