John B Hudson appears in the 14th Marines 'Red Book' as a corporal in Regimental Headquarters & Service Battery. I would guess he stayed in H&S through Saipan and Tinian. He might have been moved when promoted to 2nd Lt. in '45 Below left your original print of his portrait, and right as it appeared in the 'Red Book'.
