FAAA Posted April 2, 2011 Share #1 Posted April 2, 2011 801st Airborne 0rdnance Maintenance Company Looking for any information in regards to the 801st Airborne 0rdnance Maintenance Company for a display project. I know roughly the Units TOE, but I am a little stumped on vehicle allocation and above all need the heads up on what badge and color would have been worn on the 0rdnance piped Garrison Hat. I expect at the time of prior to and during the Normandy campaign it would have been a Glider Patch, but in what background color. Hope someone can help. pmanton Posted April 2, 2011 Share #2 Posted April 2, 2011 Good luck on the display. I was in the 801st in VietNam 1968. Paul Salome, AZ

FAAA Posted April 8, 2011 Author Share #5 Posted April 8, 2011 What would your educated guess be, Lee? Well I gave some of it in my opening here. I expect at the time of prior to and during the Normandy campaign it would have been a Glider Patch, but in what background color. A second stap at it would be as for Arty and Engineers, ie Red! And yours would be! Lee

Allan H. Posted April 12, 2011 Share #7 Posted April 12, 2011 The 801st wore a soaring glider design. The center was cherry red and the border and glider were lemon yellow. The patches are darned rare! Allan
