Realistic dream uniform: Named, fully badged 104th Infantry Division Ike jacket that belonged to a Infantryman, even better w/ dog tags and paperwork.

Total fantasy: General Allen or General Hobbs WW2 jacket

It's changed as I got older and more researched.

High School: I wanted a tropical Africa Corps uniform and weapon.

Now: I want a US Army ETO 36th Texas anti-tank squad leader summer uniform.

Too Much WW1 Militaria

The one that I don't have to put on every day anymore! lol Actually, I have them. My great-great grandfathers Civil War uniform, my Grandfathers WW1 uniform, and my Dads WW2 Ike.

Been thinking about this for a minute while I was reading the thread. And I'm surprised no one else has mentioned the one that came to mind. How about the greatest Marine sniper of all time Mr. Carlos Hathcock sorry about the spelling. Now that I think about it I don't think I have ever seen any of his items. So just to find anything of his would be a dream.

I'd have to say that my dream uniform is one of two things:

Army SF heavily-modified DCU jacket and pants, ID'd with patches and name tape

My cousin Eric's DCU uniform he wore in OIF with the 2nd Armored Cavalry. I miss you and love you bro.

I would have to say my dream uniform would be...

A WWII four pocket for a combat medic attached to B Company/185 Infantry/40th Infantry division (I was the senior line for B Co/185 CAB) with ribbons and Combat Medic Badge, dog tags, and paperwork.

OR in close 2nd

A WWII four pocket for any member of the 251st Coast Artillery

OR in close 3rd

A complete field uniform with all field gear including a steel pot for a WWII combat medic all documented belonging to the same veteran.

This is the 1-32 BN CDR in 1967

I did want a Ike from a 29er who landed on D-Day. Got one about a week ago.

Now I want an interwar 5th Maryland service coat or a service coat to a 29er wounded or KIA on Hill 108.

A Raider or Paratrooper that was at lunga ridge would probably be my holy grail. A Chosieul Raid or Koiari Raid uniform would be cool too.

The jacket Eugene Sledge wore from Peleliu to Okinawa that was hanging up peacefully in his closet as of his writing "With the Old Breed".

You may already know this, but it's now displayed at the National Museum of the Pacific War in Fredericksburg, Texas. Very neat to see. Keep an eye out for it next time you make it down there.
