Thanks for sharing that information. The use of gliders certainly was a quirk of WW2. Very brave men to willingly make a controlled crash-landing in a heavily-laden canvas covered crate with wings, often under close fire. Having visited various landing zones in Normandy and Holland it was easy to see how vulnerable these gliders would have been from the ground. It's no small wonder the practice was done away with so soon.
