Wow, somehow I overlooked that in his photo. I just thought he was squinting, you can definitely tell. Talk about sacrifice. Glad the memory of this man is still being discussed! RIP Sir!

Just came upon this thread and read it with great interest. My future father-in-law, Normand Proulx, was a member of Headquarters Company of the 423rd and was captured at the Bulge. He too finished the war as a POW. We also have his dress uniform, CIB, etc. He returned home having lost 40 lbs. and died young, at 47 yrs. of age. Thanks for sharing this.
