Bagman Posted February 22, 2011 Share #1 Posted February 22, 2011 All Hands- I am trying to determine from what period these U.S.M.C. enlisted dress stripes date. Anecdotal evidence suggests that they may date to the late World War II or post-WWII (late 40's) time frame. They may also be non-regulation, commercially available stripes to be used on dress blues that were privately purchased during the wartime period. They appear to be constructed of yellow-gold felt sewn to a crimson felt backing, and I have seen service stripes fabricated in the same manner. I would appreciate any assistance in dating. Thanks. Lee Ragan Posted February 22, 2011 Share #2 Posted February 22, 2011 I'd say as early as the 1920's or 1930's. Some Army chevrons of that time period were constructed in the same way: felt on felt. Even if first used pre-war, they could have been used during WWII. Very nice chevrons.... I LIKE 'EM!
