KASTAUFFER Posted November 20, 2018 Author Share #51 Posted November 20, 2018 It's been some time since any examples have been posted on this thread. Here is a new example I just acquired. The pair was awarded to a 5.5 victory navy ace who was killed in an accident taking off from the USS Enterprise on October 31, 1944. He earned his victories in 1943 and 1944 with VF-21 and VF-20. Since he was killed in an accident he did not earn a Purple Heart medal. His Distinguished Flying Cross was awarded to him in 1943 which is why it is not engraved.
