rtd_sf_eng Posted December 31, 2025 #851 Posted December 31, 2025 Here is a hard-to-find tab for the 387th Engineer Battalion (Separate). It's the only one I've seen since I picked it up at the Atlantic ASMIC convention.
greendevilsix Posted January 1 #852 Posted January 1 The 529th Military Police Company (Honor Guard) wore this combination. I served in the Company from 2002-2005 and we had just changed SSI as I got to the unit because of the restructuring of USAREUR. We were reassigned to the 21st Theater Support Command now wearing their patch with tab. The company was located on Patton Barracks, Heidelberg, Germany. The 529th MP Co is now part of the 18th MP BDE.
m60a1d66 Posted January 2 #853 Posted January 2 The green and white pocket patch of the 557th Airborne Quartermaster Aerial Supply Company was worn in the 1950’s. It was worn with the shoulder sleeve insignia (SSI) of the US Army Communication Zone, Europe with a blue and white Airborne tab. Source – the ASMIC Trading Post, JAN- MAR 1972. Also, this pocket patch was worn by the 601st Airborne Quartermaster Aerial Supply Company attached to the 11th Airborne Division.
easterneagle87 Posted January 6 #854 Posted January 6 Saw these pictures on a history page somewhere, I don't recall the source, but pretty interesting. Info from wiki: The 2nd Ranger Infantry Company (Airborne) was a Ranger light infantry company of the United States Army active during the Korean War. As a small special operations unit, the 2nd Ranger Company specialized in irregular warfare. A segregated unit, all of its personnel, including its officers, were African-Americans.
bn1961 Posted January 6 #855 Posted January 6 Now this is interesting. I never knew about this. I am curious what the marking is on the helmet.
lamarhooten Posted January 6 #856 Posted January 6 Here is an interesting Cold War era tab. Just wondering if anyone has pics/scans of it being worn. And if so, with what. Or was it just a general use type tab.

It's a Pershing Rifles ROTC military society patch ... B Company 2nd Regiment .... The society was started by Gen John J. Pershing in 1894 as Company A .. These are usually Drill Teams in Colleges and Universities with a ROTC program.
easterneagle87 Posted January 21 #858 Posted January 21 Saw this "AIRBORNE" tab above a 101st patch (which looks like a standard merrowed edge patch) on a VN era fire resistant / aviators-aircrew shirt, and was just looking that it was theater (VN?).

Curious right as we are in the belief these came out during the Korean War for wear by men of the Regular Army that found themselves assigned to one of the Federalized National Guard Divisions, or as Regular Army types assigned to one of the Training Divisions as perhaps Cadre or Support Personnel. http://www.usmilitariaforum.com/uploads//monthly_01_2016/post-1945-0-72967400-1453084611.jpghttp://www.usmilitariaforum.com/uploads//monthly_01_2016/post-1945-0-48933200-1453084621.jpg Lets repost these Corrupted Images of the REGULAR ARMY Tab
easterneagle87 Posted February 19 #861 Posted February 19 Just watched the YouTube story in the link by @PhiliipineBuckles that is posted in the forum topic: Philippine Belt Buckles, of a lady returning a Philippine belt buckle to the son of the original Naval Aviator, CAPT Roy P. Gee. Interesting photo of Gee sitting in the cockpit of his plane wearing a "KOREA" tab.
easterneagle87 Posted February 19 #862 Posted February 19 AIRBORNE tab above 1st CAV combat patch. Picture posted on FB page 2nd Infantry Divisionum Their caption: Yes this the Buffalo head (Harvey) in the BN Cdrs office for 1/17 (M) IN BN. Casey 85-86.
easterneagle87 Posted March 15 #863 Posted March 15 Here’s a tab shown in the topic: Legion of Merit -Showcase, posted by Spartan19. Shows the award of the LOM to Sgt. John P. Delaney wearing the 88th INF patch with a “Publuc Relations” tab above it.
easterneagle87 Posted March 22 #864 Posted March 22 Facebook page posting I thought was funny. Enjoy! Some more interesting tabs, got to love their sense of humor!

easterneagle87 Posted Friday at 05:22 PM #873 Posted Friday at 05:22 PM A great Constabulary tab shot from the FB page US Constabulary/Army of Occupation Militaria collectors. Note he is also a 78th INF vet, per the patch on his right shoulder.

A couple of 78th units became units in the 16th.
