seanmc1114 Posted February 2, 2020 Share #864 Posted February 2, 2020 Anyone ever seen this tab? I found the picture online and know nothing about it. I'm sure it's not official, but it is interesting that it looks like it was manufactured the same as the 508th RCT SSI.

My WAG is the Association tab is for the 82nd Airborne Division Association, of certain vintage for sure, worn perhaps on civvy like windbreakers, blazers??? seanmc1114 Posted February 7, 2020 Share #866 Posted February 7, 2020 Tab for the Allied Command Europe Mobile Force Land (LAND) worn with a 3rd Support Command SSI. The SSI was approved for the 3rd Logistical Command in 1952, redesignated for the 3rd Support Command in 1974 and again redesignated for the 3rd Sustainment Command in 2007. The soldier is also wearing the pocket badge for NATO’s Allied Mobile Force (AMF) Allied Command Europe (ACE). According to wikipedia, the Allied Command Europe Mobile Force (AMF) was a small NATO quick reaction force, headquartered at Heidelberg, Germany, active from 1960 to 2002. It formed part of Allied Command Europe (ACE), headquartered at SHAPE at Casteau, Belgium. The land component of the force, consisting of a brigade-sized formation of about 5,000 personnel, was composed of units from 14 NATO states. seanmc1114 Posted February 10, 2020 Share #867 Posted February 10, 2020 Tab-type "PROVOST MARSHALL GENERAL CENTER" patch. The photo caption indicates it was taken at Fort Gordon in 1951. A google search shows the tab was worn with the Third Army SSI which makes sense for Fort Gordon. But notice neither of these soldiers wears a Third Army SSI. patches Posted March 5, 2020 Share #874 Posted March 5, 2020 Came across this earlier topic by member militbuff that shows a REGULAR ARMY tab, a Theater Made one over Western Pacfc patch on a WWII M26 Sergeant;s Coat, no Ruptured Duck, the Sergeant strips being the Pre 1948 Type, with a early design Ryukyu Command patch which turns out is a command Engineering School, on the right shoulder. Curious right as we are in the belief these came out during the Korean War for wear by men of the Regular Army that found themselves assigned to one of the Federalized National Guard Divisions, or as Regular Army types assigned to one of the Training Divisions as perhaps Cadre or Support Personnel. patches Posted March 8, 2020 Share #875 Posted March 8, 2020 Found three Tabs for the 5th Air Force. The first one, New Guinea, what would this one be really? period? Repro? Fantasy? Do you think the Tab is Attached? And these two Korean War ones, these look good.
