River Patrol Posted February 14, 2011 Share #1 Posted February 14, 2011 I've long heard stories about dyed black tigerstripes, but I've never seen a set in person or seen pictures of them in wear. I recently bought a MIKE Force uniform grouping and it contained photos of these Black Tigers. Does anyone have more photos of these or a set to show? Thanks, Steve

Great book by the way, bought it a while ago. Super reference  Will Thanks for the compliment Will, and thanks for the link. I had forgotten about those. The only dyed tigers are those that Jerome shows. The vet said they were used for night activities, I assume close to the camp. No other solid information, but I'll ask more questions. River Patrol Posted February 15, 2011 Author Share #5 Posted February 15, 2011 S ,I once had a gold set dyed black . o o, How could you tell it was a gold set, and not a silver, since it was dyed black? S
vintageproductions Posted February 15, 2011 Share #6 Posted February 15, 2011 Steve-The easiest way to tell is the material. No matter how many times a gold set is laundered it stays very soft. Silvers on the other hand become a bit course over numerous launderings.

Spike Posted February 16, 2011 Share #11 Posted February 16, 2011 That lower left pocket wasn't originally that low were they? Maybe it was something added later?
kammo-man Posted February 16, 2011 Share #12 Posted February 16, 2011 S , Some times you see it out of wack sewn lower than normal ..........but not every time .but again usually the mid weight fabric . Its possible it might be a light weight breast pocket as our guy in the picture seems a little special !! o
TrenchfootJoe66 Posted February 16, 2011 Share #13 Posted February 16, 2011 Awhile back I thought I knew a fair amont about TS uniforms. Then I joined this forum. River Patrol Posted February 17, 2011 Author Share #14 Posted February 17, 2011 That lower left pocket wasn't originally that low were they? Maybe it was something added later? Is it on his calf, below the knee? If so, that seems like a special thing added

The Iron Brigade Posted November 29, 2018 Share #20 Posted November 29, 2018 Tiger Stripe uniforms dyed black were called 'No See Ums'. Not common and I knew several LRRP's who wore them. The pattern is more noticeable up close and provides various shades of black.
