Paul S Posted February 10, 2011 Share #3 Posted February 10, 2011 Nice looking wings. Add a gunner and a bombardier and you've got a bomber crew there. Although not the scarcest or most attractive, these wings are the ones most of the kids actually wore in the ETO and elsewhere. I like them a lot on that count alone. Jack's Son Posted February 10, 2011 Share #5 Posted February 10, 2011 As Paul states......these were the wings the guys actually wore. I'm sure it was a thrill to were any maker's wings, let alone Luxemburg or Blackington's.
Jay V Posted February 10, 2011 Author Share #6 Posted February 10, 2011 So true, not only that they are a Great piece ofUS history. Now if they could only speak.
Paul S Posted February 10, 2011 Share #7 Posted February 10, 2011 Trouble with them speaking is that since they were not worn on flight gear, the stories they might tell could more likely include some about Gertie or Dot and too many pots of Guinness. Paul S Posted February 10, 2011 Share #9 Posted February 10, 2011 Of course they were worn other times, too. The bombardier saluting has just been presented with a DFC and the man on the right is wearing a new Purple Heart. (461st BG)
