US Coast Guard Good Conduct...

Recommended Posts

Can anyone help me with the value of a WW2 era CG Good Conduct medal. One turned up in my local antique store and though it is nothing for my collection it might be something for somebody else.

It is engraved and dated 45 on the reverse.

Thanks in advance,

USCG WW2 Good Conducts don't seem to be too common. What is the engraving type? Is it hand engraved or machine stamped?

if it's officially engraved, it could be worth a few bucks. US Navy and Marine GCs go for over 100 apiece on eBay, late war as described. Army goes for less, but they're more common. CG seems to be the rarest of the batch. How much were they asking?

Let me chime in here. CG Good Conducts are rather rare considering numbers involved: small service, long requirements etc. More rare are GC's with ship bars on the ribbon or on the back. I have one engraved and dated 1938 but it's a shore unit.I lucked out and got that for 10 bucks (best ten bucks I've spent) but as some one said earlier these will go 80 130 bucks. With ships, twice as much and more depending on ship (like the USCGC Edisto, Alexander Hamilton, Northland and so on) Type one's with the suspension bars are more desireable. By far one of my favorites. Un-named type one's 50-80 dollars.
