Bearmon Posted February 2, 2011 Share #1 Posted February 2, 2011 I belive the YER should be YFR which is the designator for a Refridgerated Storage Service Craft. The YFR 889 served the Mekong Delta during Operation Market Time.

Patchcollector Posted January 7, 2016 Share #3 Posted January 7, 2016 Yes,the "YER" should be "YFR".I believe that the patch that you posted is a copy from the eBay seller NCHS. Here is a link to the eBay page where the copies are being sold: http://www.ebay.com/itm/b7296-US-Navy-Vietnam-Service-Craft-YER-889-Mekong-Delta-/381506994498?hash=item58d396c142 I'm also posting a photo from NCHS for reference. Patchcollector Posted January 7, 2016 Share #4 Posted January 7, 2016 Here is a Vietnam War era piece that I recently picked up.I have a theory about why the repros have the "YER" instead of the correct "YFR".If you notice on mine the "YFR" at first glance looks like "YER",but if you look closer, what looks like the "E" is really an "F".I believe that the sewing machine operator who made the patch connected the "F" and the "R" together, making the "F" resemble an "E".You can also see how they connected the word "Service" and the number "889" together too. Whoever made the repros did not realize this and put "YER" instead of "YFR".
