  3. I live near where they had fields of them to accommodate troops here in New Zealand, I've been trying to track one down for awhile, after the war locals used them for sheds, I know where there is another but the old guy seems happier to let it fall down than for me to take it, I just asked on a community group, I've still got to come to a deal with the lady who has it, you can see here where we kitted one out at a local museum https://www.facebook.com/pg/WW2MRS/photos/?tab=album&album_id=10150852344222917
  4. Interesting about the paint, some others I've seen are just bear wood, they break down into as they came as a flat pack, I will probably have to disassemble it to move it
  5. I Have been offered the chance to purchase a Hut that the US troops used while based in New Zealand during WW2, there were specifically built for the US troops, , it's not in the best condition but I've been after one for a while to restore, attached are the photos I have been supplied, there is also a name inside, anyone able to offer any help with info on this soldier? The name I can make out is E.T. Cunningham JR
  6. Hey guys, my wife and myself are planning a trip to Normandy for the 75th anniversary next year, the 6th of June 2019 is also my 40th birthday. I am looking for a reenactment group that will adopt me, I would like to be involved in a reenactment of some sort while there, can anyone recommend any groups that will be there that would be happy to have a couple of kiwis, I can be either US para or infantry, my wife can reenact a nurse, I can drive vehicles and have experience with most ww2 US weapons. 7. I ended up going with the USMC Themed jeep but as we do both PTO and ETO events and I had a second hood I picked up another bumper so I can swith it out based on event, using Johan's Suggestion here are the results.
  8. I have decided to put together a WW1 US Impression for reenacting, I've bought a few books and looked online but info on US stuff is a little tricky, I have purchased a reproduction 1912 Summer uniform, I've been trying to find reference pictures on the correct way to wear insignia but have come up a bit short, I would also like to know if it is ok to use wool rank chevrons as they are the only reproduction WW1 chevrons I can find, any help appreciated.
  9. Could be down to climate, my lid is rather loose without the seal so perhaps it's warped, but it doesn't work well here without the seal, another member of my group has one with a seal and it works fine.
