  1. Excellent helmet with lots of research! I snagged a couple of these helmets as well when I can afford them. Super neat!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. Alittle baby powered is all I need, if that doesn’t work it wasn’t meant to be. Use tell tell clues to guesstimate. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  4. Good afternoon fellas, First time posting in this section, I’m a sucker for helmets and ended up purchasing this stripped down flight helmet. I’m thinking it’s a helicopter helmet but am unsure. I bought it for the artwork on it. Someone carved some artwork on the front and put what I’m assuming their name and 70-71. Anyone seen anything similar to the design on the front? Also I found some sticker residue what I think is either left over from a playboy bunny or maybe a peace sign? Idk either what I thought it was neat and snagged it. Had a price tag in it for $2.25 lol Enjoy! Will
  5. Good evening fellas I recently snagged this neat repair station helmet. It is a front seam swivel bail schlueter shell, with a heat stamp of 285A? Liner is in decent shape and is a Westinghouse with green hardware. The shell has had some sort of weld job done to it to hold a light in assuming? Super interesting piece. Anywho I’m stoked for adding another Navy lid to the collection. 6. Super sweet set! I’m looking for one more to pair with my own. They are definitely rusty but can be salvaged! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. I was bidding on the other Hawley but pay day isn’t until next Friday. Excellent helmets btw! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  9. Good mornings fellas, I had a long weekend and arrived home to something I bought off eBay last week. I thought it looked cool and definitely different so I snagged it at the last second. WW2 manufactured MSA liner with a beaver painted on it and maybe legitimate Vietnam graffiti?? It looks old but I have not seen many actual liners marked up like this, only covers. Looks old and dirty and wasn’t breaking the bank. I’ll take some better pictures later, I was in a rush to get ready for work today. Enjoy fellas! Will Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. Spray can, used about half of a regular size spray paint can on it. I didn’t want to have to do this but it was flaking off way too much. Will Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. Here are my results with Rust-oleum Matte clear enamel. I let it sit outside my garage for acouple days because of the fumes. Overall not too bad, saves some of the paint and I don’t have metal/paint shavings all over the place. Saved some type of insignia on the pot, maybe a cross? Idk either way it’s my first Hawley liner and I’m stoked. Enjoy! Will Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. I hate to do it but it’s probably the best idea forward. It is extremely fragile paint and the elements have gotten to it. Will spray and post results later this week. Will Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  14. Anyone else score a lid or two from a recent eBay sale? I picked up this fixed bail with the Hawley Liner stuck in it. I don’t even want to attempt to lift up the liner. Plus the bales have it snug. Seller said that the helmets he was listing were from the USS San Francisco and had been left in a abandoned warehouse that the roof had collapsed. Buy the item not the story I know. Anyone have an recommendations on how to display this rust bucket? The paint is flaking off. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
