  1. Very nice and always better to see that "Sterling" mark.
  2. Good Lord Everyone, I wasn't suggesting we all take our Sterling to the "Buy your Gold & Silver Store". I was merely bringing up the point that the 1 ounce Sterling USAAF Pilot Wings should not be taken lightly. That maybe if you are lucky enough to pick up a set on eBay for way under melt value, you have the benefit of both the historical significance and metal value. I hope I've cleared that up for everyone. It's a good thing I looked back at the thread before you all came out for a LYNCHING!!
  3. At the time of this posting, Silver is at $40.20 an ounce. Like many of you, I have several USAAF wings that weigh 29-30 grams or 1 ounce of .925 Sterling. Just a thought.
  4. Hey Buddy Just wanted to keep your memory around the forum for awhile longer Eric. Bravo Zulu
  5. Really, no one here can answer my question?
  6. Pulled up this oldie but a goodie. Contained in the thread are examples of an H&H and a Vanguard marked set. Can anyone put an approximate date of when these were made?

  8. I've been away or should I say not keeping up with collecting lately. Have you noticed an increase in sterling wings just based upon the price of silver going up so much these past couple of months? Has it stopped anyone from buying?
  9. Thank you Allan, you have answered my question entirely. I appreciate your help.
  10. Sure would like to have some input on this from all of you. Thanks for your help.
  11. I would like to start collecting these, and I appreciate your help.
  12. I know very little about Army Hat Badges, but this one had me interested. It's about 2" x 1 1/2" and made out of sterling. Supposed to date to WWII or before. Can someone tell me exactly what I'm looking at? Period? Thanks a ton for your input.
