  1. Target drone. A friend used to "pilot" one at, I think, White Sands.
  2. Someone sent me this about the Willow Run bomber plant: http://www.mynewsletterbuilder.com/tools/r...omber_plant.wmv
  3. Is it marked RIA below the serial number? Your magazine made by Checkmate Ind up until the early 1990s.
  4. Occasionally a congresscreature tries to attach a rider to an appropriations bill that declares anything marked US still property of the government. So far these have been caught and removed before passage but someday they might sneak one thru.

S14 identifies the inspector and the "penguin" is Springfield Arsenal Eagle head; easier to see with the pistol pointed downward. Mfrd 1918.
  6. That's true but I've not seen the late welded gothic font R and S magazines faked, as of yet anyway. I have seen late L magazines faked as they are the easiest. I've seen many pinned Argentina magazines "turned into" early WWII versions and two tones. I believe late R and S the safest buys for someone not familiar with vintage magazines.
  7. Are the magazines for a particular pistol? Certain makers of pistols only used certain makers of magazines for original shipment if it makes a difference to you. Otherwise, I would look for fully blue, welded baseplate (no pins), gothic font (sans serif) R or S magazines. I've seen nearly all others faked.
  8. http://forum.m1911.org/showthread.php?t=28256 shows some WWII era magazines and markings.
  9. Shipped 25Nov1939 to Officer in Charge, Naval Supply Depot, Sewalls Point, VA in a shipment of 396 pistols per Mr. Clawson's big book.
  10. Thanks for the additional comm/mil photos, that's a nice one.
  11. Have more pictures of the comm/mil pistol?
  12. I've saved a few photos found on auctions, etc.
  13. I watched a few pigeon items on ebay like harnesses and transport cages but none seemed to bring much. A compartmentalized WWI wicker cage brought $15 as I recall.
  14. Thanks for the reply. It does look awkward.
