  1. Hi all, The following cap is part of my collection. It came from a friend who is also a collector and who had it for several years. The cap has some moth bites but overall in nice condition. I have several questions: can you guys cinfirm that this cap is indeed WW2? What is the difference between the brown visors and the black visors during WW2? Were the black ones early or private purchase caps? After researching the information inside the cap I found out that it matches a soldier who was killed in the PTO in February 1945 as a member of the 132nd Infantry,
  2. Captaxe, the second photo was NOT taken during Varsity. I read the original caption a while ago and I think I saved it on my computer somewhere. I´m thinking that it either was Chalons-sur-Marne or Sedan Believe it was a town called Sedan. Hope this helps
  3. Great medal group! Himmerich and Linnich is not really far from where I live. We used to go to Himmerich sometimes to visit a club there. Small world
  4. I have seen several photos which show 17th AB SSI being worn during Varsity. I will try my best to post photos here. GREAT grouping by the way!
  5. Thanks for your reply. It´s good to know that it is getting a good home. If this falls through one way or another, please let me know. Tom
  6. Hi Richard, Nice grouping you have there. I will try to find out more about Bauman and let you know if I manage to come up with something. If you intend to sell them, please let me know first! Thanks, Tom
  7. an absolutely WONDERFUL grouping you have there. Take good care of it !
  8. Interesting Thread! I visit the cemetery in Margraten quite often. Great that you've been able to visit your relative's grave over there.
  9. Great stuff! Ward Ryan is pictured in the lower right corner: http://www.ww2-airborne.us/units/513/513_trp.html
  10. Don R. Pay´s lists mentions him as being a member of the 680th Glider Field Artillery Battalion. Great uniform! Tom
  11. Great Heart, I´m jealous :w00t:
  12. I also received an e-mail telling about the monument, including photos. Great to see that a monument has been dedicated to this often forgotten important operation of WWII!
  13. Hi Matt, I do not have an answer to your question, but I suggest that you should contact Oz, his forum name is 17thairborne. He´s totally into the 139th AEB, perhaps he´s able to help you out. Good luck! Tom
  14. Thanks for the answer. Great medal, I love it!
