  2. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...e=STRK:MEWAX:IT I am looking for a correct airborne liner for a friends post war M1C pot. He has stated he wants the real deal and not a repo. I have been looking for a "rigger modified" liner since the possibility of fakes are far less. I saw this one and offer it up for you guy's opinions. Yall are full of great information and I thank you in advance. PS Theres a post war liner on an ugly lid I could use opinions on too. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...e=STRK:MEWAX:IT
  3. The problem with using myself as a mannequin is the only real gear in my size was made for fat butt Generals! If you are skinny and 5'6" tall you can find nice stuff cheap. All them fellers was recovering from the depression and weren't over fed like me!
  4. We never knew you were a man of such varied talents! Great work Sarge!
  5. Very nice lid! I like it. But hey, I'm easy!
  6. I like it plain just like it is. I never liked the painted insignia look. Give me a plain Jane GI helmet everytime and I will be happy. If you do put the insignia on I would do it over the existing paint. All fresh spray paint looks fresh and fake. I have done a few re enactment pots with BLP brand OD paint and after it sets up for a few minutes hit it with a mist of Brake-Kleen. The old kind with ammonia in it. I use a plastic spray bottle to make it mist. It will blast the paint off if you use it from the can. It takes the sheen off and gives it a salty look. For re-enactm
  7. M2 Stocks are beefier and the pouches wont fit. WWII M1 stocks are thinner and usually these will fit. I've only had 1 that wouldnt take a pouch. (Long time ago and I dont remember the maker of the stock or pouch) Carl's got it right. You have to field strip the rifle and slide it over just the stock without the action or the handguards.
  8. Great eye Mike! It pays to spend those long hours hunkered over the keyboard squinting at crappy pics of every lid listed!
  9. I was watchin that one! (I wasnt bidding against ya though) It is a wild lid! I agree it's a Late WWII lid that got some weird lovin' from from an unknown source. I love the liner! Too bad it's got a ripped loop. Could easily be field repaired though.
  10. Good eye Mike! I found this pic of a B-5 flight helmet. Sure looks like a dead ringer to me!
  11. Never seen one with a seam before. or ?
  12. I missed that on the first one he has listed. This is the one that I found first and I guess I didnt read the other as completely as I should have. Seller claims it is original and may have been repaired at one time. http://cgi.ebay.com/WW-II-M-1C-43-44-Airbo...%3A1%7C294%3A50 Here is the rigger modified one. Seller claims it is original. http://cgi.ebay.com/Original-Modified-WW-I...%3A1%7C294%3A50 Post war is perfect for the lid my friend has since it has the OD#7 straps and is rear seam. Post war would be cheaper. I want to find him a decent late war/early post
  13. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...bayphotohosting I have a buddy trying to find a liner for his rear seam late war OD#7 sewn chinstrap M1C pot. He wants the real deal and not a fake. This guy has 3 para liners. 2 are "factory" and one is rigger modified. The 2 factory's are in good shape and the rigger has issues. I know a little about regular M1 pots and liners but I cant spot a fake para liner. I'm thinking this is too good to be true. The rigger one may be OK. Thoughts and feelings would be appreciated.
  14. Thank you guys. I wish it was my liner! It came in a very late WWII M1C lid. Rear seam with sewn OD#7 para straps. The lid has been repainted but there is very little cork left on top so I am not going to mess with it at all. (Any one got a late war para liner for it?) For the liner I started off with Goof Off but the white stripe seemed impervious to the goof off so I tested a small spot with Citrustrip. It comes in a spray can from WalMart. Sprayed it into a glass bowl and used a Q-Tip just like I was doing with the goof off. Dab it on, count to 30, wipe it off with a clean towel.
  15. I cleaned the weird gren paint off this Westinghouse liner for a friend and looky what was under all that funky green! Before and after pics. What do you think?
  16. $123.00 plus free shipping! http://www.workbootsusa.com/come10hilemi.html
  17. Roll her over on her side so we can look up her skirt too. I dont know squat about insignia and such. I just like lids.
  18. Post a pic of the lid from the side. And a close up of the texture. WWII lids are taller in profile and the texture is a dead give away.
  19. Question for you guys. Were rear seamed with sewn OD#7 straps and brass hardware used in WWII or Korea and or Nam? Buddy has a lidless M1C and I was wondering. Thanks.
