  1. That is false. In ww1 and ww2 numerous medals awarded in field ceremonies were unengraved. Audie Murphy is a good example of an awarded piece that was not engraved. I can not say what happened in the civil war but I can imagine it happened then as well with unengraved medals being awarded.
  2. I forgot to add that he was listed in the roster of the 551st PIB. Later went into the 82nd and 17th. I have had so many pm's that the pm info was not posted on the thread.
  3. According to what I read the 551st PIB trained jumping out of gliders. It did not work out well so that could be where he got the glider patch. There was an SS sports shirt patch. There was so much paperwork it was overwhelming.
  4. I want to say thanks to everyone who made offers on this group! I was able to speak to the family today and told them of the offers, they declined. At this time it seems they would like more money, which is their right. I guess down the road they will let me know hat they want to do. Anyway, I appreciate the interest and pm's you guys sent me.
  5. Last night I visited some friends of my wife and was shown the grandfathers large paratrooper grouping. The family would like to sell it and I was wondering if someone could help me out with a value. There is many pictures of the soldier and paperwork that I did not take any pictures of. Also he was captured and spent time as a POW in germany so he had an officially engraved purple heart with the docs and bronze star engraved. Unfortunately, some years back they gave his jump jacket to the Goodwill!
  6. He refunded my money through paypal. He never did respond to any of my messages or even explain in any way why the money was refunded. Definitely, will never do business with him again. The only reason I think why he even refunded my money and did not drag this on for a month is because of the help of Jerry trying to contact him, so thanks for your efforts Jerry!
  7. I keep hearing what a great guy this is but I ordered and expensive item nearly a week ago and nothing. E-mails go unanswered, phone calls are unanswered with a mailbox that is full. Does anyone know how to get in contact with him or even if he is still alive? I would like to get my thousand dollar item I paid for. I just don't understand how anyone can do business like this.
  8. Thanks for the clarification. I look forward to the new display, I am sure it will be really great!
  9. Just curious, do you know what happened to the original MoH ribbon? Obviously, the one he got in WW2 was a small pad version. The large pad seen here came about post 1964. Excellent display!!!
  10. Really looks great! The framed uniforms are very classy as well as the nice leather couch and chair. I could never figure out why some people make incredible collection rooms and then put a couch in there that looks like they found it on the side of the road. Well done!
  11. Can't wait to see this project finished, it really looks amazing!
  12. I really love your flag collection! Nice displays as well!
