  1. At Ancestry he is listed under 319 Glider Field Artillery Battalion when returning to the US in 1945. According Bart Hagermann's book Seventeenth Airborne Division he was also with the 681 Glider Field Artillery Battalion. Someone who has that book? Is there more information in it about him? In particular I am seeking for a picture from him.
  2. Don't know how it got there. Bought it many years ago on a local market in the Ardennes.... Thanks for your help.
  3. You are wright. Thanks for the suggestions. These are/were all I am still looking for information and I am aware of reaching a point of becoming excessive....

  8. Perhaps one the forum members has the book "History of 272nd Infantry Regiment"? Wonder if he is mentioned there for the Silver Star...or perhaps there is a picture from him in the book.
  9. Great finding, USdog. Thanks. Makes sense, the tag was found near Tafel in Germany, Ardennes/Eifel are.
  10. Who can help me please finding this soldier's unit? Lee A. Thomas, ASN 38217155. I found it in the Ardennes. I got in contact with his son who wrote the following: "I will search though things to try and find some paper work such as the Silver Star citation or whatever else there is. What I do know is he was a corporal. I do know he landed on Normandy on the second day of the invasion. Thank goodness it was the 2nd day! " That was the last time I heard from him Thanks.
  11. Who can help me please finding this soldier's unit? Willard C. Unkenholz, ASN 32800798. They were dug up in the Ardennes or Hurtgen Forest area many years ago. The guy who found them does not remember exactly where. Thanks.
