  1. Then who’s work is it? Your comment reads as if you know more than what you want to let on. Jamie’s work tricked a lot of people a few years back, especially some who pulled some weight when it came to their opinion. Transparency is a lot more important as the days go on with this hobby. Robert
  2. IMO the paint doesn’t exhibit much wear compared to the webbing of the liner. It could have been painted at wars end which could help explain the condition. However with that said, I think it looks cartoonish and recently done. The 104th typically used stencil/spray paint or paper decals. This one is clearly not in line with their typical type of markings. Robert
  3. It could be a laundry number based off of his officer serial number too, dont rule that out. I have personally had two officer helmets that were marked that way.
  4. Is this the one you originally claimed as fake?
  5. Oh gotcha. I guess Im confused on why it was bumped then. Thanks Kurt. Robert
  6. Costa- why did you think it was good? Would like to know see your perspective on it.
  7. Doesnt look favorable from this picture. Link to the auction?
  8. The photos dont do it justice I am sure!!
  9. Google is saying that lacquer and enamel paints were around well before the 1940s, so both of them being available was possible for the timeframe of this helmet. Acrylic apparently wasnt made available until the 1950s.
  10. Agreed about the mismatched types of paint. Were there types of paint like enamel and lacquer in the 40s?
  11. The liner appears to have possibly been shellacked at some point but has flaked off. Robert
  12. Long story short, and the point crotalus is trying to convey is-the M1924 tag is a lot harder to find than a Vietnam era blank and should be left alone and not stamped. Robert
  13. Crassou54, I will do some searching to see if I can find any info on this guy and will PM you.
  14. Whats the big issue? OP is clearly not speaking his native language, which is evident by his opening of bonjour. Anyone who has the art of the English language can surely conclude what his question is regarding the dog tag. No need to put him down because his articulation, spelling, or proofreading isnt up to your standard.
  15. Wanted to put this up for discussion and future M2 helmet posterity: http://www.usmilitariaforum.com/forums/index.php?/topic/317301-fs-m2-helmet-that-you-will-never-have-to-replace/&do=findComment&comment=2548423 Looks like everything about this one is wrong. Heat stamp, feet on the loops, straps, etc.
  16. Well the holster says found in France, so it is obviously a DDay used item. That puts the value at least 2000 percent above a regular used flare gun.
  17. That appears to be a very very rare DDay used flare gun. It certainly was probably used in Normandy, so please make them a FAIR offer!!!
  18. The triangle regimental marking is for the 345th infantry regiment. Nice helmet!
  19. So now you want trustworthy advice from the helmet community, the same community who has always given you advice, but you always neglected to heed.
  20. You totally miss the point that the other helmet is a painted helmet. Painted helmets bring premiums. You think that people here ridicule you, you DONT LISTEN to what anyone says.
  21. We will start with the painted medic roundel on the other helmet. FYI, since you did some more research on it, it came with other named pieces also.
  22. The value of this helmet being based off the prior mentioned helmet is totally unrealistic. The two helmets are not even in the same ballpark.
  23. No, youre still at fault for making a backdoor deal because you initiated it. Secondly, your offer wasnt sizeable by any means. All you did was play a pity card on the seller and wholly took advantage of them, because you knew that it would go for more than what you wanted to pay. Your words, not mine. Lastly, as it always has been with you...you post your items looking for the atta-boys, and when that doesnt work in your favor you post it up looking for major bucks. As was previously posted in this thread, it is unlikely this is a D-Day used helmet. It doesnt command D-Day prices. You do
