  1. Larry, Thanks a lot for solving this discrepancy and being able to determine he was part of the 84th Infantry Division! I really appreciate all the help. Gavin
  2. Thank you for the extra information! That really does look to be him, but this is where it gets kind of confusing. On his other certificate posted below they said he died of wounds in the European area. Could this have been a mistake? Also, would they have gotten his rank wrong on possibly Find a grave or possibly on the certificates? His original birth certificate came in the bottom of the purple heart box with his Father being Edward Young and being from Butler County.
  3. Hi all, I wanted to share this purple heart grouping I picked up recently belonging to SSG John M. Young. He was from PA and it is the only KIA Purple grouping I have found. What isn't pictured is the KIA certificate with the FDR signature at the bottom as well as the burial flag. I want to end up getting the certificates framed and get a nice display together. The photo is believed to be of John Young, but the person I bought it from wasn't 100% sure it was him and said it could have been another family member who could've served in the military. Would anyone by chance be able to
  4. Thanks. Looking closer I would say it was tailor made most likely in japan as the clip that was used on the bottom of the jacket reads "Made As Japan." I'm used to seeing Made in Japan or made in occupied Japan, but that is the first time I've seen it as that. Also, attached are a few more pics of the lining.
  5. Unfortunately the uniform is not named. I will take some more pictures of the lining later and double check, but I am pretty sure there is no manufacturers tag present.
  6. That is a great question. I always thought it was a GI issued jacket and the GI modified it to how he liked it. It could very well be a tailor made jacket though I'm not sure.
  7. Hi all, Thought I'd share my Merrill's Marauders uniform that I have had for some time. It is lined with like a blue silk lining and underneath the pockets. It has a nice theater made patch with a CBI patch on the other side.
  8. Out of curiosity of what is the patch to the right of the bottom left patch? Very nice displays!
  9. Here is a really cool homefront piece that was produced in 1942 from my research. It goes through various different planes and facts about them with the same border on each page saying what to do "When an air raid comes."
