  1. Yeah there are quite a few discrepancies with this one unfortunately... At least whoever taped it was creative with the VF-51 markings though, we don't need more counterfeit VF-84 helmets flying around :-p

I'm not convinced on this one. The helmet looks period correct however the liner on the inside doesn't look from the right era. but more importantly, the screaming eagle isn't as elaborate as I've seen on others... Thoughts?

  4. Hey all, this was listed on eBay recently. Obviously it's an APH-5, however I wasn't sure if it would have indeed belonged to a member of VF-1... Very interesting, I will have to find a way to get in contact with these collectors, unfortunately I live very far from Italy :-p I'll have to double check, as the helmet originally came with a double bungy clear/smoke visor. I've swapped the visor around which is cut for a -12 and put the -12 mask on. I'll have to find what the original visors were cut for... And I've just had a look, they are indeed H-143's in the helmet at the moment.

  7. Wow, that set up is amazing! Molto bellissimo! It is very hard to come across genuine Tomcat, 1980s era helmets... I'm growing very impatient in finding one, and unfortunately I don't know where to looks, but an HGU-33 is definitely next on the list for the collection! :-)

And I agree, the -55 is very generic looking, but still cool nonetheless. Especially compared to the US Navy versions of the APH-5/6 and PRK-37 family helmets... Cheers/Salute!!
  10. Hey all, I'm fairly new here, so I thought I'd start by sharing some stuff I have. I don't have a lot, but this is something that's always on display. I bought it a few years ago, it originally came with an MBU-5 mask, but i've simply swapped it for the -12 you see in the pic for aesthetic purposes. I believe (hope) it's an original VF-126 HGU-55/p used by the adversary squadron when they operated the venerable F-16N... All comments welcome! Cheers guys, happy to be on board!
  11. Hey everyone, This is my first post! So woo hoo! The thing with eBay is, you need to know the variations on the search criteria. So you need to have a few different key word searches going... In my endless quest of looking for Helmets; (Looking for F-14 HGU-33's if they're out there btw), goes like this... Instead of searching for 'Flight Helmet'- which unfortunately gives you helmets but all sorts of other crap that isn't relevant, attempt these key terms: - HGU flight helmet -Navy Flight Helmet -PRK Flight Helmet -APH Flight Helmet -US Flight helmet -Vietnam Flight Helmet
