  1. Thanks for all the info and opinions everyone. I had to work the day of the estate sale so my dad went. They also had a pot with a lieutenant bar on it but someone grabbed that before he could get to it. I’m definitely lucky my parents support my collecting. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. Thanks for the replies. I didn’t notice the paint on the chinstrap before. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. My dad picked this up for me at an estate sale. It's a front seam, swivel bail mccord. From the pictures he sent me it looked like World war 2 era cork and paint. In hand it looks like it was repainted and maybe re corked with sand. The cork/sand isn't as fine as the sand finish on a '60s ingersoll helmet I have but I still cannot tell if it is cork or not. It is a little bit finer than the cork on some of my wartime shells. The interior of the shell was painted and corked as well which I have never seen. Here are some pictures I took. Is this a war time refinish or is it from the 60s? Th
  4. Found this recently and was wondering if there was any chance that this was a real breast plate or a reproduction. Thanks for any assistance. I can take more pictures if needed Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  6. It had no US property markings or acceptance stamps just a huge oversized serial number on the right side of the frame. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. Sorry for the late reply but it turns out the pistol isn’t what it was advertised as. It was just a Remington Rand slide on a no name frame. Thanks for all the replies Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. My lgs has a 1943 remington rand for sale for $1100. I was going to go look at it this weekend and was wondering if there is anything specific I should look for. The pistol comes with a m36 belt and holster that someone fixed a EGA to. I have no idea if the EGA is period or not. From what I've seen the pistol is blued. I thought all ww2 era 1911's were parkerized. Were some blued and some parkerized or is this pistol refinished? Thanks for any info
  9. Thanks everyone. I'm gonna use it on my ETO mannequin.
  10. Thanks for the information Costa. I decided to take a chance on this one because I liked the wear on it. I got it for what I feel is a fair price however I can't find any other examples with green buttons.Maybe its the lighting in the pictures. Does anyone have one in there collection with green buttons? Thanks again
