US patches (especially theatre made), groupings.
  1. THERE ARE ARMY INFANTRY, NAVY, A CHAPLAIN AND A COUPLE OF CIVILIANS. i TALKED TO THE OWNER (WAY BACK WHEN) AND HE SAID IT WAS AN INTELLIGENCE GATHERING GROUP. THERE WERE NO NAMES. THE OWNER DIDN'T WANT TO TALK ABOUT IT. I THOUGHT IF SOMEONE ELSE HAD A COPY AND A NAME IT COULD OPEN A CRACK SO i COULD LOOK FOR MORE NAMES. I HAVE A FULL SLIDE SHOW OF IT BUT I DON'T KNOW WHERE TO POST IT.
  2. BOOK CONTAINS ABOUT 35 (WHAT APPEAR TO BE) ORIGINAL WATERCOLORS OF THE MEMBERS OF THE COMMISSION. I ASSUME THAT EACH MEMBER HAD A BOOK OF HIS OWN. DOES ANYONE ELSE HAVE ONE OF THESE?
  3. Thanks for the id. Much appreciated. How about the circle D hallmark? I've seen this before.
  4. Thanks for your response. First, I want to correct the fact that there are no markings. There is a number 31 on the front. The snaps do not open a pocket. No pocket. The flaps do fold in. I can't help but think the rounded out area fits something, maybe the neck of the pilot or of the steering column.?
  5. Does anyone recognize this item as an aviation accessary? About the size of an 10 x 12 piece of cardboard with two snaps. Came with the navy parachute bag & leather flight suit. OD cloth on outside, no markings or numbers.
  6. Para, that makes sense that he may have been a civilian. The flight bag has a name on it (Gene B. Whetstone) but no indication of rank. Military people almost always indicate rank. Thanks to everyone for the help.
  7. Found the tags in the left pocket of jacket and left pocket on leg. Both have been cut in half but together they say HLB Corp. Found size tags in the fur, sz 40 for both. Has slant pockets on jacket and patch pockets on legs of pants. No vent holes in arm pits. Zippers ar "Talon". The fly has two button up snaps. Slant pockets on pants have no lining. Anyone have any info on HLB Corp? I think I saw a movie a long time ago where the Navy was experimenting with flight suits before the War and they were changing to electric. In other words, I think the electric suits were just a modific
  8. Dug these out of a 25 cent box. Anybody know what they are?
  9. i think the other two jumpers were all white but one had 2nd class yoeman stripes.
  10. Yes, the blue areas appear to be wool (at least the moths think so). I appreciate your answers and I think you have it nailed. I wondered why there were no stripes on the cuffs...I guess that how you can tell it is unissued. There are no marks or names on the jumper but there is a name on the pants. Now, if it is a middie, why does it have pants? The answer is that I passed up two more sets of these and I may have picked the wrong pants. I paid $30, should I go back for the other two?
  11. THANKS GUYS. NOT WHAT I WANTED TO HEAR BUT IT SOUNDS RIGHT TO ME. GOOD HUNTIN'
  12. i picked up this navy uniform last weekend. Thought is was WW1 but maybe earlier. When did CPOs wear pull-over jumpers or should I say when did thay start wearing button up jackets?
