  1. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...%3D1&_rdc=1 Someone actually bid on it. Amazing!
  2. You just beat me to it! I was just going to make a warning thread on this item. This must be the most pathetic effort of trying to sell an item as original period I have seen on eBay so far this year. The swing strap sheath is post-war as well.
  3. Inferior reproduction sold as original period: http://cgi.ebay.com/Vietnam-Special-Forces...=item20b8078f17
  4. Yes, the "mesh grille" usually seen is not present.
  5. Forgot to list this one: http://cgi.ebay.com/WW2-US-ADVISOR-HBT-PAT...=item2c5b73265d
  6. I have not found those threads yet, but I will keep looking. There are many things not right about this headgear. Perhaps the most striking sign is found on some of the berets. The misspelling on the taylor's label is a dead giveaway. Failing to use the exact font used by the taylor is also quite revealing. The seller has two types of boonie hats. Notice that the vent eyelets are identical on all the boonie hats of each type. The press studs on all of the slouch hats are also identical. In addition, the eyelets and the press studs looks fairly new and stand in a strong contrast to the faded and weather-beaten fabrics. This is especially noticeable on the slouch hats.
  7. The fabrics are the nicer parts of original weather-beaten garments that have been cut and sewn together to make decent looking head gear. Unfortunately, this is something we have seen quite a few times. There are some threads on this forum regarding questionable sellers that one found out had been doing this. I will look for these threads and post the links if I find them.
  8. Looks like this seller located in Vietnam (I hear the alarm bells ringing) suddenly found an incredible variety of head gear he wants to sell: http://cgi.ebay.com/ARVN-SVN-PARA-PATTERN-...=item2eb3eecce7 http://cgi.ebay.com/ARVN-SVN-CISO-PATTERN-...=item2c5b7315e6 http://cgi.ebay.com/ARVN-SVN-BEOGAM-PATTER...=item2c5b7318d7 http://cgi.ebay.com/ARVN-SVN-DUCK-HUNTER-P...=item2eb3eed1cc http://cgi.ebay.com/ARVN-CIA-FIELD-POLICE-...=item2eb3eed394 http://cgi.ebay.com/ARVN-SVN-TIGER-STRIOE-...=item2eb3eed3ea http://cgi.ebay.com/ARVN-SVN-PONCHO-LINER-...=item2eb3eed4fe http://cgi.ebay.com/ARVN-SVN-E-R-D-L-NON-R...=item2eb3eed586 http://cgi.ebay.com/ARVN-SVN-TIGER-STRIPE-...=item2c5b7320d5 http://cgi.ebay.com/ARVN-SVN-TIGER-STRIPE-...=item2c5b732184 http://cgi.ebay.com/ARVN-SVN-PARA-PATTERN-...=item2c5b7324a3 http://cgi.ebay.com/ARVN-US-PARA-PATTERN-V...=item2c5b732680
  9. From what I have seen, it seems like the Camp Strike Force tiger has a green dot in the middle of the eye, whereas the Mobile Strike Force tiger only has a black and white eye.
  10. I want to thank all the contributors of this thread for providing interesting information.
  11. You can see that some green ink has bled through on the Camp Strike Force patch to the bottom right. I have been told this is common for the repros, but I am no longer certain this only concerns those.
  12. That is exactly what it looks like on the backside of my patches! Some green ink is smeared out like that.
