  1. I agree that it is beautiful and a work of art, however, it is somewhat of a specialty item. To each there own with regards to value.
  2. I didn't realize they were in France that long, good call.
  3. The reason being is that both the 11th and 82nd remained beyond the war, unlike other Airborne Divisions that had been deactivated soon after the war ended.
  4. I don't have the book but have had a look at it. The 11th is a little tricky in dating these since their occupation duty lasted until 1949, four years after the war. I have NEVER seen a photograph of anyone wearing this patch variation during the war, and the few portraits I have seen with it in wear have all been post war. That being said I lean more toward the occupation period on these. Still, a nice patch worth having.
  5. Interesting wings, a biding war got the best out of the auction winner.
  6. I believe these are late to early post war period. I don't recall seeing one in a WW2 grouping, so uncommon but not rare by any means.
  7. It is possible that he was in Vietnam for one 12 month tour, as indicated by two combat hash marks. He was also Ranger qualified, possibly SF qualified as well. I base this on the date of the uniform and also because the SF tab did not become authorized until the early 90s'. I believe the 1st SOCOM patch was established in 1980 and phased out in the early 1990s'. So this combination would date between 1980 to early 1990s'.
  8. They don't look like German ones that I've seen.
  9. I rarely buy from collectors. For some reason, I thought that the original poster was purchasing it based on the pictures that he posted so I was concerned about what might be the asking price. Not sure why this has become an issue.
  10. I guess I thought that you saw it for sale and was wondering if the investment was worth the asking price. Okay, thanks for the picture and additional information.
  11. I don't want to judge it based on the few photographs posted. I would like to see the inside to start with.
  12. No interest in buying it, just wondering. I would not take a chance on this helmet judging from the pictures posted.
  13. Need more pictures. What is the asking price?
