  1. It had originally been given to family that had interest in it when he passed 35 years ago. That line of the family no longer had interest in it and passed it on to me. I have a huge interest in WW1 and I was even born on my Great Grandfather's birthday.
  2. His dog tags and a close up of the collar brass. The uniform itself is dated January 1918.
  3. Finally got my holy grail of a WW1 uniform. Although it doesn't look like much of a piece it means a whole lot to me. This is the Uniform of PVT Harvey C. Sullivan. Medic in Military Evacuation Hospital 38 Baltimore Maryland. He is my Great Grandfather.
  4. Just wondering if anyone else will be there this weekend, 18+19 September. I will be in the main building as a vendor. http://redballonline.org/redball_home.htm
  5. I have a box/crate similar to this and it is marked as a document case. It is painted with the name and address of a Flight Officer. When I get home tonight I'll get a photo.
  6. Could also just be poor quality control. If one column is removed it will be 48 stars. The stripes also seem a bit short to the side of the Union.
  7. The nose is only dimpled. The base is hollow. Unless I'm backwards in my thinking.
  8. I'm also wondering if it might be a tracer and not an HE. The internal tube is only about 3/4 of an inch and there is no fuse, timer, or place for a detonator at the nose.
  9. Got them posted now, was working on the sizing.
  10. Base and nose. The round is very heavy 25+ pounds. It was an explosive shell, on the inside is a tube, either aluminum or stainless and at the nose a primer can be seen.
  11. This came into the store this morning. Price was right so I took a chance on it. No markings other than a number "8" on the base of the round. Measures approx 9 1/2 inches tall and approx 3 1/2 in diameter (88-90mm). Anybody have an idea?
  12. It is a Marine Corps bar and the Marine had served in the Gulf War and Afghanistan. The bar is rather modern. First row is a Navy Achievement for Valor and service, next is a Combat Action ribbon. Second Row is: National Defense, Navy Meritorious Unit Commendation and Sea Service twice awarded. Third row is: Afghanistan Campaign with two campaign stars, Global War on Terror Campaign and Global War on Terror Service. Bottom row is on upside down but left to right is: Nato non Article 5 medal, Kuwait Liberation Medal Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Liberation of Kuwait Medal Kuwaiti. $6 was a
  13. I recently bought a decent size collection off an estate clean out guy and in it are a few pieces that I have no idea on. One piece is this plate. I was thinking it may be a Shako or Sun helmet plate, I'm pretty sure that it is an image of Saint George. It is 4 1/2 inches tall and wing tip to wing tip of the eagle is 3 1/4 inches. Any help in appreciated.
  14. Not something you see very often. Did you purchase these?
  15. I can see that now. The "st" in 1st looked like a 28 to me.
  16. This walked into my shop recently and it was unusual enough that I just had to have it. It is a receipt for French Francs to collected for the unit's food for the month of September 1918. I can't quite make out the unit but I think it is the 128th Engineers.
  17. I have maybe five or six of them. A mixture of steel and plastic. Mostly dated in the 70's and 80's but I have one dated 1944.
  18. Here is the DI. It is not hallmarked and the lower pin has been re-soldered back in place. Again the camera didn't do this justice.
  19. Here is the Ike. Sorry about the quality of photo my camera leaves a lot to be desired.
  20. Thanks guys. I was looking all over AAA and Arty DUI's for it. I'm thinking they aren't original to the Ike then.
  21. I got a WW2 80th INF Ike and I have not been able to find this unit. I think it is for a AAA unit as the Ike has Coast Arty collar brass. Can anyone help?
  22. I got this ribbon this morning. Can anyone tell me what it is? It is made by Gemsco and has a clutch back.
