  1. This is tricky for me because I've never gotten into collecting helmets. Basically for the same reason I don't buy K98s. There is just so much to know, so many details, so many fakes. I've read a bunch of threads in this forum over the years and have been awed at the amount of info and nuance you helmet guys know so you don't get burned. if I go over to take a look at it, what should I look for? I know for a ww2 the seam should be in the front it should have fixed bails, and that's about it.
  2. Thanks, I don't have any more pictures. I saw the helmet for sale locally. The seller is asking $125
  3. I don't know a lot about helmets, but I know a lot of you guys do! Is this one real or a fantasy piece? Anything else you can tell me about it? What era, originality, etc. Thanks!
  4. Thank you Charlie, I appreciate it!
  5. Thanks! The blade is 7 inches long.
  6. This is my first Fairbairn Sykes fighting knife, a second pattern B2 which are widely believed to be Wilkinson Sword manufactured. I did my due diligence and research, but I'm far from knowing all there is to know about these. One thing I do know is that there are plenty of fakes out there. I'm pretty sure that this one is good but I want to get your opinions on it. My concern is the small grind mark under the guard. I know that some of these knives by other makers were marked in this area. Does that throw up any red flags or is it likely it just came out of the factory that way? The B
  7. Very cool glad you got to the bottom of it!
  8. Peter Wolter Sohne, Eschweiler? They made German parade and dress knives and marked the blade there but it's just a guess.
  9. Can you post a picture of the full knife?

Thanks SkipH! We're really lucky to have you here in the forums, you're a wonderful resource! I agree that this one is just not right. I think you're right about the location of the ordnance stamps on the Uticas. I also think the stamps look a little thin and suspect? I'll take more pictures when I get the time but pretty sure this one is not original and may have dishonest markings. Thanks again.

Did Utica make a 6 groove with a plastic spacer? Does this pass the sniff test?
