  7. I am building my Grandfathers Ike. I just sewn on his 4th Army patch. I was going to do a cross stitch but I think this looks pretty good. Have any of you seen patches sewn on this way? I'm sure alot of soldiers did it themselves and there was all sorts of styles. How does this look to you? Thanks!
  8. Very cool! My Great Grandfather was on the receiving ship USS Bridge and then the USS McDougal.

  11. I am in the process of doing this now. All I am waiting for is the correct thread to be mailed to me. I have my Grandfathers original patches and ribbons so part of it will feel like his. So far this has been a fun project. I can't wait to see the end result. I'm sure you will feel the same!

    Collar disc

I'm pretty sure it's a C also. I have no idea what unit he was in. This is a big breakthrough in researching him. He died in 1925 from TB that was brought on by being gassed in the war. He is pretty much a mystery.

    Collar disc

He was in the infantry. I'm pretty sure that is a C under the rifles but I guess it could be an O. Was there such thing as an O company?

    Collar disc

I have this picture of my Great Gramps that I have posted a billion times on here. I have been trying to magnify his collar discs. I am pretty sure the US disc has a 4 under it. If it is a 4 what does that mean? He was from Chicago, Illinois.
  18. Well that sucks. Hopefully someone knows about something.
