  2. Yes, I knew Captain Kiss. I was then in Kuwait for 3 months, due to the preparation of the exchanges. I loved doctors. I was out there as a soldier as a radio operator.
  3. This was in a USMC acquired. Am I correct on the designation or depot 3rd pattern?

Breakthrough At The Siegfried Line-761 Tank Battalion.

Well, I finally started on the figures. Definitely not my best priming job, but the paints still had something to grab onto. Since Dragon usually makes its figures with the separate head, I substituted a head from Hornet. The Tamiya figure to the left came out pretty decent too. The tankers did not photograph well, but I tweaked them, and they look fine. I will post some more WIP pics as I go along. Semper Fi. Manny
  6. Thanks for the replys. This alongwith a 4th USAAF tunic sold for 75.00. My buddy did not go for it.

Is this V aviation rate real or fake?

I have not. New to me. More used to seeing embroidered dates if any and chevrons of wool.

M1C SNIPER M2 FLASH HIDER FOR M1 GARAND

Thank you for the pictures. I thought on your original post, there was a shadow of the M7 spigot post. Your recent pics confirmed that's not the case. The base is a correct heavy base for the M2. As for the markings, I've seen obvious fake markings like below. https://imgur.com/a/92m24wo Last year I saw a hider with markings that were spaced wide like yours. Initially, I thought in might fake. But now you present a second one. I'll have to revise my thoughts. It might still not be original, but it could also be a very limited variant. Too small of a sample size to determine- yet. Thank you for sharing.

    Combat Rosaries - Issued?

The chain was similar to dog tag chain.

Is this V aviation rate real or fake?

Looks fine to me personally. I don't suppose you've come across the fully embroidered chevrons with the 1943 stamp before, have you?

    Combat Rosaries - Issued?

Thanks all for the info! Super cool! Loved seeing the picture! I'm making some Rosaries (just one of my relaxation hobbies) and stumbled on a WWI Combat Rosary mention online and it said they were issued. That's what led me to finally ask! @manayunkman - Is that Rosary you show made of bead chain or are those strung beads? @m151mp - Thanks for sharing the story and the picture! Was the Chaplain a Vn MoH? Neat that they had the Rosaries and Testaments there for the taking. @Mr.Jerry - That is such a cool story . . . never thought of making them to figure out a way to get them to troops in active service! @Tony V - I see the tag on the bottom . . . where was it made?

    Tent Canvas Cleaning

Soak it in a bucket of water with a copious amount of soap. I recommend dawn. After an hour or two lay it on clean concrete brush with a heavy bristle brush. A large floor brush will work too. Once the whole has been gone over, flip and repeat for the other side. When finished hose off the soap. Leave flat while drying. It may shrink slightly. You may lose some of the color. Some of these seem to have an oiling for waterproofing, you will lose that. It can be replaced, but I don't expect you to use this for actual wet weather and therefore it can be foregone.

Is this V aviation rate real or fake?

Yes, that’s what it is supposed to be. But is this a true 1943 example or a more modern reproduction?
  17. Yes, it is a Transport Airman . According to John Stacey's book it was combined by sub-specialties into Air Controlman, Aviation Machinist's Mate, Aviation Storekeeper, and Exclusive Emergency Service Rating EST(Transportation Airman). From 1942 - 1948.

    Help with unknown patch

Looks like a screwdriver to me. Most likely a transportation related patch, but unfortunately I have no ID. Randy
  19. WOW!!! What an outstanding museum. Thank you for taking the time to post all the pics of this amazing collection, the level of quality items is off the charts. I used up all my likes for one day in this thread alone. Would love to see you post some of the Grenade pics in the Grenade section...Again...thank you for your effort..

Looks like every Grenada patch with the grenade was made by a different maker based on the lettering.

Questions about the Ontario M9 bayonet

I saw that when I was doing research. I was hoping that a current soldier, vet or collector familiar with these bayonets would chime in with experience. Seems most online info on the subject just quotes the Wiki M9 page. Thanks for your response.
