The title tells it all. I'm trying to determine if a Cattaraugus 225Q or Case 337-6"Q will fit in the Navy Mk 2 scabbard. Does anyone have both so they can check?

A neighbor's father served in the Marines during the Korean war, and has had some questions about the knife he carried. He's pretty sure it was a 225Q; the Cattaraugus name and the thick pommel stuck in his mind. But he's equally sure he carried it in a hard plastic scabbard. The only possibility I could think of was the Navy's Mk 2 scabbard, but I don't have one and can't check for fit.

coffeecup- The 225Q fits in a MK2 scabbard. But, it will destroy the finish on the blade. By coincidence a local militaria dealer has one in that configuration. I would not recommend. Case 336Q, I have no clue. SKIP

Skip, thanks for the quick reply! We were just looking at possibilities, I'll pass the information along. I doubt blade finish was one of his concerns at the time (though it would sure matter to me now!).

The answer to both is Yes, they will both fit the USN Mark 2 scabbard (as well as the leather scabbard). The fit is tight as the blades are a little thicker than the Mark 2 knife, but they indeed will go in snugly.

Thanks again guys! I had to scramble a bit to put it together, but when he got on the plane tonight a Mk2 scabbard holding a Catt 225Q was tucked in his luggage.

I thought so.
