Does anyone recognise this Compass Pouch? What type is it? Which country made it?

Many thanks (in advance),
Bob

It's a US pouch for the WW2 lensatic compass and one of the scarce variation with regular (as opposed to lift the dot) snaps.
Nice find

Is it an early war version, or an late war issue?

It's very difficult give you an answer. Since three years Craig is searching infos about this identical pouch owned by a british friend of him. I see snaps are identical to the ones employed in jungle first aid so I'd say late WWII or postwar european copy as Craig suspects.

Bob M, hi Bob take a look inside the snaps on the flap or the backs of the snaps inside the pouch and see if you can see an American company such as ' Carr' or ' Rau', these snap ones are much less easy to find than the lift-the-dots.

Kenneth Lewis,
I cannot find any markings on any of the snaps.
I think this is possibly an Belgium, Dutch or French made after the war. The material which is used to make the pouch does not do American to me.

Doesn't it have an "first and last 4" GI's ID marking in it on the inside of the flap? That would make it American-issue, not European.
Cheers,
Glen.

It does has an C-0873 marking on the inside written by pen. Anyone could have done that after the war...
I'll search for another, early war, compass pouch for my feb 44 dated Compass. I dont think this is an early war pouch.
