There was a family who lived next to my great grandparents house in Kentucky. Dee Ledford was a 20 year Military vet and passes away a while ago. My great grandparents were offered some items that belonged to him, My great grandpa saw some Army uniforms in their closest and said that his great grandson, (me), would want them for his collection. So he got all the uniforms and when he came up to visit us in Minnesota, he brought a trash bag full of Army uniforms. At the time, i was about 12 , So i did not know anything really about models, dates and type of uniforms. I got a whole bunch of khaki shirts, combat shirts, jackets and parkas. There were many patches on the shirts, including Calvary, U.S.A. armored center, 7th Army, and U.S. Army Forces Far East patches. Dee Led ford enlisted in the army in 1943 and retired in the 1960's. but i have not revived any items from his service in WWII. The uniforms date from 1950 to 1953. I sold one uniform and got rid of a few a long time ago when i got them, however, i didn't realize that the shirts i got rid of were the Calvary ones, so i' am going to try and get them back. But over all there is about 24 clothing items i have right now from him. I did get permission to do what ever i wanted with the, before i got them, they were going to be sent to a good will!!! I' am not sure where he served in WWII or the Korean War. the only information i found was off of tons of papers that i found stuffed in the m1951 jacket with the armored patch on them.

I also do know know much about the patch, "USA armored center" and what they did. The shirts that have that patch are the latest date, 1943, which were probably issued to him after the Korean war.

All uniforms and pants are in very nice shape, the only thing wrong is the green 1943 pants are really worn and faded.

Thank you for viewing my post!

thanks but i don't think thats him. I looked his serial number up on the web, the name that came up is different but all the info is right on the place i found. He must have changed his name? here's the place i found. The birth year and location is correct. He didn't die in the military, he was in WWII all the way untill the 1960's. he died last year i think.

I have some papers from his retirement. Thats how i found the serial number. But i i' a m confused because on the papers from the 1960's his name is DEE R LEDFORD, he must have changed it after WWII maybe? It has the same name on ancestry.com as well. so i don;y think it's a mistake.

It appears that when his name was transcribed into the digital database the letter D was dropped from the end of his last name and beginning of his first name.
