I took these for a friend, and thought I'd share with the forum. This is my M1918 Marlin Rockwell machine rifle. Made in April of 1919. Yes, it's real, and it fires.

No real story with it. It was in a collection in Arizona, and the guy sold it so he could remodel his kitchen.

I would love to shot that one!!!!

I live in a state....Georgia....where you can own full auto weapons but it's a lengthy, and expensive, process. Used to be a Class III dealer in this area who usually had some nice weapons. He once let me handle a BAR M1918A2 he had for sale.....believe the asking price was about $3500 ++ all the taxes, fees, etc that went with owning such a weapon. I finally decided it was too much money and too much liability having a "machine gun" in my home....so passed on it. But I still think about that lovely old BAR.

But as nice as it was it was nowhere near as nice as that WW1 period Model of 1918....CONGRATS ROBIN!!!

Very nice! Thanks for sharing. That one's at the top of my list too but I'm sure the only version I'll ever own is a repro semi.

Marine basic infantry training in 1967 included a "familiarization fire" of the BAR. What a joy it was to shoot but I sure wouldn't have enjoyed carrying that heavy weapon.

I want a real C&R GI M1918A2 BAR and would gladly trade my transferable M60 for one, but they seem non existent.

I have one that was converted to a M1918A2 during WWII (oh yeah, it is live and kicking).
They are sweet.

Super super nice BAR made when quality was outstanding and as far as I'm concerned some of our best made firearms were produced. Here in Idaho we are very firearms friendly and if you can afford them it's easy to own what ever you want and that's the way it should be. I thought I would include a picture inside of a friends safe from up north he's owned them for years when they were almost affordable. When I visit it's BYA 'Bring Your own Ammo'!!
