Hey all,

I snagged these off of ebay a few weeks ago. Didn't pay attention to where the seller was from, so bad on me. The pics looked good to me, but upon receipt, I've seriously got doubts as to the legitimacy of these wings. They don't feel right and there are definitely things that don't look right. I'll let the pics do the talking. Would be nice if my fears are unfounded, but I doubt they will be.

The pin looks like it was machined down from a longer pin.

There appear to be lumps of extra material on both shoulders and at the bottom of the shield. Seller swore they were 100% authentic and die struck, not cast.

Here's the Amcraft hallmark. The seller also included shots out of "Silver Wings, Pinks & Greens" of an Amcraft wing for comparison.

Neither the quality nor the catch and hinge look correct. This looks like a cast piece to me, and I suspect it is not vintage.

crying.gif Unfortunately, that particular snowflake pattern Amcraft pilot wing badge facsimile which you purchased on eBay is being made in China.

That's what I figured... I'm disputing it and returning his hunk of junk to him. Ridiculous.

Is the seller from Hong Kong? I almost bought a similar wing which is being sold from there on Ebay.

Sorry - a bit late to this topic but Cliff is 100% correct. The thing that first caught my eye is the look or should I say the color which all the AMCRAFT wings he sells have. Now how can I be 100% sure the stuff the guy in China is selling is bad? Well I asked him if he couls sell me more than one and in our exchangehe could supply me 100 if IIRC if I wanted a discounted price from the $95 USD per wing he wanted. I have the emails to back this up.

Cheers

I've filed a dispute, posted a thread in the Fakes forum and have left the guy negative feedback. Oh well... I'll get a better wing for Major Bell's uniform.

Good luck - I hope you get your money back.
