I decided that this weekend, I was going to re-arrange and organize The Wall. Here are the results.

The area where I had my uniforms was about half the size of the area now, now I can spread them out and get a better view of all of them. I took the excess junk out and now I only have my duffles by period, packs that don't fit the other displays, and now my boots are better displayed. I don't know if the bottom shelf with the helmets will stay that way, but it looks OK for now. The shelf right under the trench coats is where I will display items like gloves, hats, other things that don't go on the main wall but want to show.

I took the supports down that I had my rifles on and replaced them with new ones that had 1/2" dowel holes every two inches so that I can tailor the fit of the rifles. Previously, everything was all crammed together and magazines were overlapping the underlying weapon. Now, everything is more straight and better displayed. I then moved my safe to the other side of the room and extened the Wall all the way to the end, giving another complete area for show. This made enough room that the displays weren't crowding the weapons. It also allowed me to build a pistol display rack so that my military pistols are closer to the rifles.

This wall still needs more improvement. The wood up by the WWI display was where I had the pistols to start with, but decided they were to far away from the rifles, so now this area is open. At first, I had the packs down on the floor behind the display stands, but it stuck out to far, so I made a tempoary rack to hang the packs up and that allowed me to move the gear displays back against the wall. My poor bomber crewman display suffers from the droopsy, I need to get rid of that moldable mannequin and get something better.

According to the wife, soon. You don't need a sale to come down, you are welcome any time, you just have to furnish the ammo! As you can see under the uniforms, my stocks have dwindled down to almost nothing!

wow,thats veryy impressive!!! thumbsup.gif
DM1975
Is that a real PLGR I see hanging on that ODS uniform?

Very nice set up you have going on there...
DM1975
My bad, that is not a PLGR, but the older GPS, the Navpro or something like that right?
Bugme
Is that a Trijicon site on that flat-top on the bottom rack? Can't tell from the picture. I love the rest of your pack displays... very well done! salute.gif

Looks like an M68 with a PVS 14 or a magnifyer behind it.

Nice job of creating a display. Good use of space.

Dallas, I just realized that now I don't have a reason to drag you over to my collection pinch.gif

DM1975: Yes, Magellan NAV 100M. The guy that had it got rid of it cheap because after Y2K "It doesn't work right" Works very well in my collection! It will fire up, but it won't track, software is Kaput.

Bugme: DM1975 is right, M68 with a PVS-14 on a J-arm behind it. The 14 is the body only, no intensifier. Same with the PVS-7s on the ODS uniform next to the GPS, and the PVS-7s on the Balkan se up. The PVS-14 on the OIF I helmet is a mock up as well, along with the ANVIS on the OIF II.

Stinger: Sure, I simply drilled a oversize hole and put 6 1/2" dowels into a 1 1/2" hole drilled at an angle. That gives me 5" for the bore. I drilled them oversize so that when they get tore up, simply cut another and then you are good to hook. I did the same on the rifle rack, but they are drilled the same size and you have to work them in and out.

Very good display for a great collection, even if personally i would have the pistol displayed from side like the rifles.
I like how it's organized, i'm going to display my small items in a similar manner, thanks for the inspiration.

where did you get Anvis mock ups? I would definitely like to have one for my display.
hawkdriver
I thought about putting the pistols sideways, but when I tried it, it just didn't look for some reason, so I went with the way I have them now. I may change my mind later, great thing about wood, I can easily change it.
As for the ANVIS, years of collecting bits and pieces. They are actually early model stuff with single eyespan adjustment with 18mm lenses. Takes awhile, but if you look long enough, you can find anything. Your problem is our ITAR laws, they prohibit export of NV technology, even the bodies and such.

Thanks, I appreciate the compliment. The interesting thing is that each of those packs are not merely stuffed to give them a full look, they are full of gear, normal stuff a infantryman would carry. Underwear, hygiene kits, cold weather hats, dog tags, whistles, rations. In several cases, what is inside the packs is worth more than the gear they are associated with.

Looks good mate thumbsup.gif
