Our forum buddy Smith posted on his french forum his last purchase, a near mint olive green pack carrier. I can remember an old topic on MCF where former Art Student posted a RIA 1915 haversack complete with olive green meat can pouch and pack carrier and he was very happy cause those haversacks rarely have accessories with the same colour. Now this carrier bear the ID disk of "11th aero pursuit squadron" but what is intriguing is the stamp " US GOVT. PROPERTY" seldom seen on web gears. Any clue?

If I am not mistaken pre-WWI and WWI olive green is known also from the other field gear elements. Here is 1913 dated RIA-made e-tool carrier.

That is a really nice 1st pattern pack carrier, I saw that one on eBay several weeks ago. Too bad it has the post WWI equipment marking tag. This would have been for the 1st pattern haversack which I posted below, a 1911 dated Mills haversack.

I've seen the US Govt property on field gear. I have a set of M1907 suspenders which are marked so.

Thanks Smith, yes this is my haversack biggrin.gif . It is also the only Mills 1st pattern haversack I have ever seen. My camera's flash doesn't do justice for it, the colour is actually darker.
