The script "remember Pearl Harbor" is a repro--sold at the site--and the blue button is a fake I'm sure.

Couldn't tell you, right now its packed to move but as soon as I find the box I'll take some more pictures. I thought the chain it was on was really nice when I bought it.

Nice items. Thanks for sharing. The blue RPH pin you indicate may be fake has been duplictaed and is part of many duplicates and fantasy items coming out of California recently of pinback buttons. I should note that the pin was originally and authentically made in a b/w version and a r/w version and those are not uncommon as well. You would know best which you have by examining the back, the cello and its general appearance.

Cheers,
Jim

jpgrl,

You have a nice variety of "Sweetheart" jewelry. I have a couple of 82nd ABN pins with chain attached jump wings and glider wings my dad brought back.

I still have no idea and probably never will but here's a picture of the back side, and sorry the close up is so blurry. There are no markings that I could find.

I have several sweetheart items but most are WW-I German and beyond the purview of this forum. I do haver a couple US items though and one set is below.

When I first got these several years ago. Since they came to me as a pair in identical boxes, I assumed they were a pair of fancy, jeweler-made AAF lapel winged-prop devices.

However I was told about a year or so ago, I believe by someone on this forum after I posted them in the insignia section, that they were both sweetheart pins.

Here's the only other one I have. It's also an AAF sweetheart item. This one has a pin on the back and also has a "hook" to wear it on a chain if desired. The flash washed the front out a bit but the heart is gold and the winged prop emblem is silver.

I have a navy 1st Class PO "crow" that my uncle gave my mom (his sister) in WWII, with rhinestones all over the insignia

Also mini bombardier wings my other uncle (AAF) gave her.

Thanks guys. That collection of 37th items is excellent too, as are the AAC wings still in the box!

Erwin,
Have you seen this:

Look at post #13. It isn't identical, but close enough to make me wonder if it is the same maker.

Thanks for the reply, Pete.
So this might be of WWI-origin?
Or maybe the Armor triangle was added later?

Steph,
Do you happen to have a pic of the middle pin's back? I am newbie to collecting and have a piece very similar to that of yours, just wanted to compare the two. You have a very nice collection, thank you for sharring it with the forum!
Thanks smile.gif

A very interesting thread, also in the context of American wartime law.

I have just read an article of January 1943. The title is "Frame those wings, sister!" and sub-title is "Service wings are not 'frat' pins and there's a stiff penalty for wearing them. But the ladies do anyway".

The article quotes Army regulations No. 600-40, Section II, Paragraph 23: "It shall be unlawful for any person not an officer or enlisted man of the United States Army, Navy or Marine Corps, to wear the duly prescribed uniform of the United States Army, Navy or Marine Corps, or any distinctive part of such uniform...". And "Any person who offends against the provisions of this section shall, on conviction, be punished by fine not exceeding $300, or by imprisonment not exceeding six months, or by both such fine and imprisonment."

Building sector would be emerging market then because bigger part of the Americans in the ZI ought to be arrested.

Best regards

Greg
