I'm trying to figure out how WW2 Marines attached the leather scabbard to their cartridge belts.

I have seen where they use a wire hanger off of a first aid kit, canteen cover etc.Place it through the scabbard loop, position it to the top and then attach to the eyelets in the belt.Other wise I believe they just hung it off the webb trouser belt and the cartridge belt rode above. If carring a carbine or 45 auto they would run it over the pistol belt.

I've seen at least one picture of a Marine with the Kabar hooked to his trouser belt. I suppose they coudd also put it on the back middle section of the garand belt, too. Not too hard to take one of those belts apart.

Might be a bit uncomfortable when you have a seat, and a knife is under your bum though, unless you twist your belt to the side before you sit

Korea, 1950. Marine with Truman badge. This one appears to be an M4 bayonet.

Ranger Sgt. Allen Hensley with his stiletto in 1943. You don't think this picture was posed--do you?
