In the antique business a picker is someone who goes to the flea markets, garage sales, estate sales, old barns by the side of the road, etc. to find collectibles usually for resale. Most people do this as a second income, but some do it as their primary thing. It requires an eye for antiques, knowledge of what sells, market prices, willing buyers (often antique stores or select collectors) and quite a bit of skill and luck. Now that the History Channel has educated us all on how Pawn shops operate, they will be having the series American Pickers. Perhaps we can all learn a little from our competition. I have no idea if they will turn up any military items or not, but I am sure we can learn something from their techniques.
