Hi everyone,
I don't like to report and say bad stuff about people but, in this case we all have to know.
there is an eBay auction #320426843242
Rare -General Beauregard- Confederate Civil War Uniform
Worn at Fort Sumter - Hand-Signed by Beauregard

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...e=STRK:MEWAX:IT

I tried to contact and tell the seller (twice) about is mistake... no response, so I guess it is listed intentionally like that (wrong)
you all need to read the fantasy description about this uniform:
(the real one will be described at the end)

Description

This is an Amazing, Super Rare, Early French Army officer's dress uniform. This wonderful Old piece has a Stunning, Early design, with Silver Bullion embroidered & Velvet decoration, it's Original Epauletts & Hand-Stitching, is made of Wool, with a Silk & Ticking lining, includes the Black coat/jacket/tunic & Red Buckle-Back pants, with Black leg stripes, is 19th Century Old, an exceptionally Rare piece to Find and would be a wonderful addition to any collection.

This was recently aquired from a Very Impressive Antique Militaria collection in Virginia, in which only the finest was included, and this is believed to be an Original, Civil War period item. In the coat pocket, a 19th Century, ink on cloth, note was found, and it reads, "This coat was made in Paris France in the Spring of 1861 for Gen. Beauregard. He wore it to Fort Sumter". Now, we know that a note alone means very little in the way of provenance, however, after examining the interior further, we discovered the initials "G.T.B." handwritten on both pieces, and these appear to be written in General P.G.T. Beauregard's own hand. For these reasons, we believe this to be an Original, General Beauregard owned, worn and Hand-Signed Uniform! If you will look at our feedback, you will see that we've sold 100's of Original, Period Civil War items, and those buyers have always been very pleased with authenticity.

This appears to be in Very Nice, Crisp, Clean condition, Exceptional, without even any mothing. This displays MUCH better than the pictures show.

now, let me explain....why, there is one kind of uniform I know very very well and it is the kind listed in this auction.... now, I will give you the real description:
this is:

French dress uniform pattern 1931, captain of the "VETERINARIAN CORPS"
same as the French Medicine Corps except all the buttons, ranks, epaulets are silver instead of gold

I know 1931 French dress uniforms, because I collect them for years...I have some pictured on my website:
http://www.williamsmilitaryrelics.com/web2collection.htm

so, someone can explain how he worn this uniform at the battle of fort Sumter April 12–13, 1861 ???

Thanks

I quote from his own website, ‘’Owner James Weiderman, is most proud of what sets us apart from all others’’ think.gif rolleyes.gif

So its obvious that he knows what he is doing. His auctioneer Terry Wilson supposedly has over twenty years of experience. Hmm I find that hard to believe, even with my limited knowledge of civil war uniforms i knew it was wrong. thumbdown.gif
