So I recently picked up this piece, I believe it is sweetheart. The question boggling my mind at the moment is to what the lower hook is for/ what was on it at one point. :think:

My thoughts too... I'm not convinced it's a sweetheart thing..

It is a hook for a whistle for an MP uniform, they come with unit numbers and in silver and gold. Not exactly sure when they came into use I am guessing 50's but they where for sure used in the 60's and 70's. Not a sweetheart piece.

Hi Lynn1117, the answers given to your questions are correct, I am just trying to figure out where I saw a photograph in the last two weeks of one in use, perhaps someone else will chip in with a copy of it.

mp police had them on the uniforms ..also some of the guys got extras and had them made into sweetheart pins by a jeweler..
