These are modified to lengthen the front straps but it wasn't done by adding the grommet. Instead one end has been cut off and the end resewn. They look unissued other than that modification. Would it have been a factory mod? Also notice the length adjusting buckles. Aren't they Mills style?

They certainly look like Brit made buckles.

The stitching looks to be a bit sloppy and loose for a factory mod. Lengthened for a FARB type reenactor?

I believe the front straps are Mills straps. The weave is consistant with the description in Dorseys book. The Mills material and weave was a little more course than the Russell. The main straps that are stamped Russell are indeed thinner and of a tighter weave than the lower straps. So I believe the original front straps were replaced with Mills straps and made longer. Unfortunetly the hook ends that would've been stamped with the Mills logo, and the proof, were the ends that were cut off. Whenever this was done is anyones guess.

Hello.

Not good, straps were cut and sewn up. The "hooks" are definitely "US" made.
