Nice fish-tail parka, with a real wolf or coyote fur trimmed hood. We used these occasionally during the Cold War in Germany.

I love that wing. I remember Art Greg showing me a similar wing years ago at the old Great Western Gun Show. I know that pattern was used after the war as well, and I have some nice photos of this particular pattern (as a flight surgeon rating) being worn by a USAF guy. Is it possible that these were also made post war? I know that the TO rating was made obsolete sometime around the KW time period (IIRC). Any ideas? P

Yes , all these 4th Infantry Div. patches are from my own collection. On your question: the last one is made on silk material and I have two variations of them - the front is on both the same but the back is different. On one of them the ivy leaves are embroidered direct on the silk material and the other one has an additional grey twill material for stabilizer. I got all these patches from an old collector who was one of the leading patch collectors and a long time ASMIC member. He had very good connections to a lot of patch manufacturers over here in Germany. Most of them are from the mid 1950s late 1960s. Hope I could help you. If I can help you with further questions, let me know.

Thank you! I appreciate the time and knowledge that you’ve shared with me. I’ve been unable to find any tags on this coat, so that doesn’t help much with IDing this coat. -
Thank you

Thank you both for all information, I really appreciate it! Looking into those books that were mentioned, there are several volumes, five I think. Can anyone confirm that? Should I look for a specific volume? Probably would b like to have them all.

Hello all! My name is Chuck. I retired from the US Air Force and federal service and live in South Carolina. My family has a long association with the US military; great-great-grandfather fought in the Civil War (1st NH Heavy Artillery), seven uncles in the Air Force, Navy, and Marines, not to mention numerous cousins who have served. My father-in-law served in the Army during WWII (CBI). I have been coming to this forum off and on for the past few years and felt it was a good time to join now that I am retired. While I do not really collect US militaria (except from my own service which I may post), I have a strong interest in general 20th century US military history. I hope that I can contribute to some of the discussions that happen on this forum.

. Hi Peter, Thank you appreciated, It was a case of being in the right place at the right time, ten minutes later and I wouldn't have seen it and it would have been heading for the incinerator, and lost forever . . . . . . . . . . I hope I have helped save it for the future. Perhaps I should have done a Then & Now of the Duffle bag. IF and I say IF all the web grab handle and shoulder strap had still been attached then I could have replaced the missing canvas and almost made it back into a identified collectable. My sewing machine is incapable of replacing that grade of webbing . . . . Thanks also regarding Mark, it pleases me that our forum friend McDuff will be there, as I am sure many other people we all know and who knew Mark, it's a tragedy loosing someone like and as young as Mark as you will have read Graham's words about him, a friend to one and all.
