Recently found a 498th Medical Company Dustoff patch. Been looking for two Dustoff patches for a really long time. One down one to go. Without this forum and its members it is likely Iโd still be looking for this one. Thank you,

Thanks for the response. What was the manufacturer of your M9? I'm specifically interested in the Ontario. I'm seeing conflicting information, some saying only green, some saying early one's were green, but black was also issued in the early 2000s. I appreciate your input and service.

I was Army 25 years. 23 years with the M9 Bayonet. Always green. Early on, all had green sheaths like the Buck 184 & 185 sheaths with 4, side mounting points for a pouch that looked like the M9 pistol single magazine pouch. Later I started seeing sheaths with only 2 side mounting points. The upper 2 were removed. I never paid attention as to who made them, but they were much more functional than the M7. You could cut wire with the wire cutter, and the sharpening stone on the back ended up usually dulling the blades due to operator error. The ability to quickly remove the bayonet and sheath from you equipment was nice too. Having the ability to keep it in you ruck was nice on long foot patrols, and being able to quickly attach it back on you was handy. I can't speak for the other branches. Hope this helps.

Hi Johan, we were at a small campsite on the other side of Arromanches at Manvieux. I remember on the 5th I took a drive out to the top of the cliffs overlooking Arromanches. There was a beautiful sunset; looking down at the beach, remains of the mulberry harbour and out to the horizon was one of the most spiritual moments of my life.

Operation Iraqi Freedom, Multi International Division CS Iraq patch 03-04
Major Z replied to P-59A's topic in ARMY AND USAAF
Oh awesome! It's nice to write you knowing we shared common experiences. I had the unique position within my support battalion to act as an ambassador to all at Al Hillah, People are always surprised to learn we were based with Hungarians, Poles, Filipinos, Mongolians, Romanians, and a few Slovaks. I really enjoyed getting to know all of you. Were you there on September 22, 2003 when we caught mortar fire? It is remarkable how lucky we were that the insurgents got the fifth round stuck in the tube while firing. I'm thankful to God that no one on post got hurt. I'm sorry some Iraqi civilians weren't so fortunate. -
Hi Graham, Back in 1994, did you camp out in a small field in St Come de Fresne just below Arromanches?

Here's a neat uniform grouping I picked up last month, a named Seabee grouping belonging to a T. F. Esch. I haven't been able to find much information on the vet but I assume this group dates to the early 60s? It also has two WWII era N-3 utility shirts. Another bonus of the group are the sweet Seabee tapes, which I assume are Japanese made?

. Hi Eagle87, pleased to read that it brought back some memories for you, if you have any photos of the camp or buildings please share them with us. I can't recall seeing any other examples of these coloured camp pins advertised / shown anywhere else. If any forum members have examples please post them. Norman D. Decent Price for Post War Paratrooper Wings
Tonomachi replied to Threewood's topic in AIRBORNE, GLIDER TROOPS, PARATROOP JUMP WINGS AND BADGES
Nice find. If you have patience and you know your wings you can still find great buys on places like eBay. I recently picked up a nice 1950s era L.G. Balfour made clutch back sterling paratrooper wing (see photos) for just over 20 dollars (see link). It was described as a, "Korean War US Army Paratrooper Jump Wing GP G-I Marked STERLING Airborne Badge". Based on the photos I recognized this as an early post war LGB piece and not a GP Sterling wing. Due to this error not many people bid on this wing so I was able to picked this up for 21 dollars. https://www.ebay.com/itm/404873220570 -

The pin Fort H.G. Wright is just out side of Spokane, WA. Brought back a few memories as I did a lot of ROTC field work (Ranger Challenge Patrols, FTX's, etc) there.

Possible Iraq victory arch helmet question
SGM (ret.) replied to ShibaLegend's topic in M-1; M-1C & M-2 HELMETS
All of the Iraqi helmets that I handled (and collected) after the first Gulf War and OIF were indigenous Iraqi manufactured. All of them displayed somewhere on them raised or embossed indigenous manufacturer markings.
